What say ye now, republican?

The oil companies were caught watering down the gasoline they sold by Democrats, and as soon as the happened gas prices started going down.

If you're paying more or the same you must live in one of those red states, eh?

As a Democrat I wish we could take credit for the price drop but actually its supply and demand, the US has bought up a huge supply and now the futures market knows that high futures prices that were running a few weeks and months ago cannot be maintained. The price of petroleum will probably continue to rise in the long haul because the world really is running out of it and because the value of the dollar is tanking on international markets because of the war and the deficit and the astronomical debt to Communist China that the US incurred in financing Mr. Bush's war.

Gas prices are market driven. They have gone up substantially and gone down recently, and congress has nothing do do with it. Refineries have been shut down, but Liberals ignore this. The Democrats have passed nothing in 6 months. That's to be expected. I cannot believe how Liberals believe the rhetoric. It's all a big conspiracy. Republicans want to get you, and Democrats are going to save you! Right. Just like the Liberals blame George Bush for NAFTA and the Free trade agreement with China (both Clinton). Keep saying it long enough and it becomes true. I see it all over. What a joke.

Obviously you dont seem to understand how oil prices work.

As a republican I would ask you to show us which piece of legislation congress passed that actually reduced gas prices. If you are going to give congress the credit for prices going down a bit, you need to show exactly how they did it.
Otherwise you are just blowing hot air that means nothing.

I would also ask you to look at the bill in Congress right now the democrats ARE trying to pass that would raise taxes on the oil companies. Keep in mind that any time in history when congress has raised taxes on the oil companies, gas prices have gone up quite a bit. This democrat bill if it went through (thank god right now the democrats dont have the votes) would most likely make gas prices go up about 1.25 within a year and to 7 bucks a gallon within 8 years.
Also keep in mind that Hillary has said she supports a 80 cents a gallon increase in the consumer gas tax if elected as president.

The democrats have really done very little to reduce gas prices.

The sad fact is, since the war and the increased tension in the middle east, prices have risen sharply because of OPEC reducing production, increased risk due to unrest and general increased gasoline usage.

NO ONE - republician or democrat - has done ANYTHING to decrease the price of gas. They haven't lowered gas tax, nothing - least of all, President Bush.

Some of the policies may eventually drive prices down as some provisions gave more money to exploring new fuel types, but they didn't even give a substantial tax break for those buying hybrids.

HA! I am paying nearly 75 cents more a gallon since election day. And the Democrats have no more control on gas prices than they would on turning the moon into green cheese.

Get real!

I don't know where the hell you live, but where I live gas prices are substantially higher than they were in January. In fact, a quick check indicates that the national average was $2.14 on January 21, and $2.98 as of yesterday.

Doesn't really seem like they have "sharply been reduced" to me, does it to you?

Oh No they found the price control knob that is kept under the speaker podium in congress.

You are an idiot.

Supply and Demand

Government has little control over prices and in my view they should have NO say what so ever.

World market prices set the $ amount of crude, not the party in power. Do you think Saudi Arabia gives a damn about publicans or crats? Do you think we care where our oil comes from? As long as it can be refined hell, it could come from McDonalds. And as people here didn`t realize you are being sarcastic which is funny.

I say gas prices are about the same here (Ohio) .. nearly $3.00 a gallon. That certainly not worth doing cartwheels over.

it means democrats knew why or how it was high. this brings only two possibilities:
1- Republicans kept it high on purpose and democrats knew the way they keep it high.
2- Democrats themselves involved to keep it high.

Did democrats ever explain what kind of dirty tricks are used by republicans to keep it high and how they knew? Otherwise, it may very well mean that democrats are involved in keeping it high.

I'm neither democrat, nor republic, not even US.
