I can't believe so many can take something so simple and misunderstand the intent. The original saying was taken out of a 198something movie heaven can wait. where an angel said the human mind although uses all of their brain they only use 10% of it's capabilities meaning human man is stupid in comparison of what he could be. Science and these pseudoskeptics think humans have advanced to almost as far as we can rearch and like the ocean floor so much has been left undiscovered. Just because we can't find the answers we as humans quickly become discouraged and give up this is why science is incomplete and hasn't done anything besides continue making half baked theories that changes very time the wind blows. The mind is a powerful thing yes and has much to learn hidden deep inside we could do almost anything if we stop listening to this can't be done crap that many of us are breed in.

. A few decades ago, some were saying that humans only used a tenth of their brains. Thse same people would tell you that no one knew how the brain works. So, how did they come up with the one tenth figure?
. The brain may process ideas while your attention is on something else, but processing ideas, emotions and movement commands is all it has been demonstrated to do. No claim or purported evidence of "hidden" powers has ever stood up to any sort of observational test.

My three year old son went for an EEG not long ago.. (in effort to find what is causing seizures he was havin).. the doctor did not come back and tell me that only 10% of his brain is functioning .. infact all is fine.. "normal" ..
Also.. headaches i get once in a while, tend to tell me that 100% of my brain is wanting a break and stop thinkin so damn much.. i think if we all used only ten percent of our brain, things would be a whole lot simpler .. sit in front of tv and watch Jerry Springer throughout the day.. lol..

This is true. It's not 'hidden', it's just that we are not capable of using it at the moment. I also believe that we lack concentration. We are mostly distracted by other things, so we can't actually approach the power of our brains with telephones ringing, tvs and computers and noises etc. You must have noticed that people in earlier times had much better concentration and often reported 'paranormal' events. I believe we have introduced too many distractions in our world, and we have 'lost' our power.

To be honest, the 10% actually started sometime in the early 1900's if I remember correctly, about the time when people started writing self-help books. It give a sense of potential. I reality our brains are doing all kinds of things without us truly being aware of it, like assuming that light is overhead and behind us, even if we're upside down.

that is a common misperception,A fraction of our brains, about 10% is composed of neurons, which on brain scans can be shown to be active. 90% of the human brain is made up of glial cells, which have very different functions than neurons. it has been observed that in normal thought processes, the brain is in constant activity, no matter if we are sleeping or awake. It is important to note that we don't use the entire portion, or fraction of our brains that have neurons at the same time. we are using glial cells as well as neurons in order to think, act, feel and move. Therefore, we’re using much more than a one tenth fraction of our brains at any given time. In this metaphoric sense, we are only using a fraction of our brains

Yes. The reason we don't use all of our brains is because we don't have enough blood too. If we used much more of our brains we would probably die.
We could do all sort of things if we used all our brains. We could fly, communicate with our minds, move objects with our minds.ect. the possibilities are endless.

I work at a casino and see it everyday. They keep shoving their money into machines that give them nothing back. Humans do only use about 1 % of their brains.

Probably not so much 'hidden powers' more like things that we should all be able to do like being really good at maths (I mean like, Rainman good, lol) and having a photographic memory. Its probably more than 10%, we just don't need to use everything at once.

This is a myth that is completely unfounded. It's possible that our brains are not running at 100% at all times, but that's because the brain is compartmentalized and doesn't require all of its parts to be fully engaged to do every task. So perhaps we are using only 10% of the brain at one time, but no one has ever shown that 90% of the brain is just sitting there waiting for us to use it for psychic or telekinetic purposes like many fish oil salesmen are claiming.
