Yes they are amongst the rarest and majestic animals in the world...............but I am against the "making" of white tigers

White tigers although they might seem rare and you might think they are endangered species , they are not. They don't live in nature,

It is a birth defect a recessive trait in which the tiger becomes white.Sure they might seem healthy and everything but they are really not. These tigers have been bred through countless generation to achieve the desired colors. Most white tigers that are born are a deformation of nature. Sadly they have to go through ALOT of tigers to achieve these colors.

As much as I like white tigers I would wish that people would stop trying to breed them they are just hurting the healthy , already endangered tiger population.

All white tigers have serious health hazards so in making these animals they just make their life worse;

If you watch this video you can understand why it is a health hazard for ALL species of tiger;

Lea although that may be so that the first white tiger that was discovered was in the wild these animals are not healthy it is better if we didn't continue breeding them at all . I t is bad for them. The diseases that could come with this are dangerous (not viral) but physical.
The best thing (for them) is to not breed them anymore , most of the tigers are born deformed.
Although I agree that it is a rare spectacle to observe
I am COMPLETELY against it people only breed them to make money. If they really LOVED them so much they wouldn't breed them. In the wild chances are you will NEVER see a wild tiger.
They are like albino people they are born with serious health issues.
So breeding these tigers with other healthy ones can cause serious illnesses.

The white tiger is not a subspecies of ANY kind

White Tigers are absolutely beautiful. Don't listen to the people that say they are not from the wild, it is not true. The first white tiger.....Mohan was captured from the wild in India. He was not the only white Bengal tiger that had been observed in the wild, however he was the only one that was captured.

They are very rare and all white tigers found in captivity have been derived from Mohan. Initially inbreeding was done to promote this rare genetic mutation that caused this unique color pattern, however that is Not the case today. Many people that are involved with the breeding of the white tiger promote genetic diversity through cross breeding with the Orange Bengal and with another subspecies of tiger the Siberian or Amur Tiger. Cross breeding is being done today to help save many rare species. The Pumas and mountain lions are being brought in and bred with the Florida Panther to help promote genetic diversity and save the small remaining wild populations. They are the same species, just different sub species. The California Condor has been saved from extinction through cross breeding with another similar condor. It is true that you will still find today people that will inbreed to get more white tigers. However with the ease of genetic identification and determination of inbreeding it is up to the people that are responsibly involved with promotion of the white tiger to ensure its genetic fallibility.

I hope you continue to love the white tiger and know that this characterisitic was not made by man. The white tiger is truly from the wild and does require human intervention for continued promotion of the mutant characterisitic that makes them so beautiful.
