You can, yes. As for which fish are allowed, that's a legal issue that varies from state to state and country to country. Best you check with your local fish and wildlife office about what you can legally keep and how you can legally collect them.

Conditions should closely match those the fish comes from. Fish from a creeks, stream or river will generally need a stronger current in the tank and lots of water motion to maintain a high disolved oxygen.

One of the biggest problems with keeping native species is the more commonly known species (bass, bream, etc..) grow quite large, are territorial in nature and needd loads of room. This all adds up to a huge tank.

If you are considering smaller speices such as darters and minnows, they usually come from coll, fast running waters and to be truly successful you often need a chiller to keep the temperature in the tank low enough for them. Pricey piece of equipment.

So get the legal part and then carefully research the particular fish you want to keep and set up your tank accordingly. Native fish can be loads of fun to keep, but like any other fish you have to plan ahead.

You can, but they are more tempermental and must be kept under conditions as close to their wild habitat as possible and only if you have a tank suitable for them to grow into, not just for the size they are at the time. Many species of fish kept in aquariums are wild caught because they are difficult or impossible to breed in captivity, and many breeders seek out wild caught fish in order to be sure of untainted bloodlines in the fish they breed. As far as fish allowed, you would need to consult your local authorities on that one.

I wouldn't unless you intend to kill the established fish. Wild fish will bring in parasites and disease that your fish are not immune to at all. Parasitic outbreak is very likely. You will have to quarintine all wild fish for at least 2 months to be safe. In the U.S. you can keep any fish of legal size, so you will most likely have to keep a 'keeper'. Or you could keep any fish referred to as bait fish. Check your local laws. Also remember the size the fish will get as an adult and don't keep something too big for the tank.

yes you can keep them, we always keep fish we caught in our creek. I would say just make sure you get water from where ever the fish is from, to keep it alive longer. I think you can keep any kinda fish, but I'm not 100% sure on that part...

I have a 125 gallon aquarium and I've had bass and bream for several years now (they live in the tank with my Oscars). As long as you keep your tank maintained well, they should do fine. I wouldn't recommend keeping them in a small tank though... they need plenty of room to grow.

depends if you are in the UK, or the US,

if UK, it is actually illegal to house any british native creature that isnt captive bred. fish included.

if US, then i arent sure. if it is to house with other fish then i would certainly say no because you dont know what diseases etc the new fish might bring into you already existing stock.
