How would one go about deleting one item from ie's history without deleting the whole history. My friend (yes, my friend, not myself), is looking to delete an item. i told her to go to 'tools' then 'internet options' and click 'clear history'. However this deletes the entire history, while she only wishes to delete one item from the history so it will not show up in the address bar when a first letter is typed etc. How would she do this?.

Go to:
My Computer
Select the drive (presumably C)
Documents and Settings
Select the User Name (could be Owner)
Local Settings
History
Scroll through the list and look for the appropriate entry and delete it

Repeat the above steps but instead of selecting History, select Temp folder and delete any applicable entries in there as well.

One thing to note however. If your friend is not the System Administrator, chances are that the address can still be found as a limited user account cannot delete System Administrator history and temp files.

You'd need to look in the system registry - so be very careful with what you touch.
Start -> Run
type regedit and press enter.
Edit->Find
type in 'typedurl' without the quotes and press enter.
This will list them all. Find the one you want to get rid of and delete it by right-clicking and selecting Delete.

NOTE THAT THE REGISTRY CONTROLS VIRTUALLY EVERYTHING - DO NOT MESS ABOUT WITH THIS PART OF THE OS.

Sorry for the caps, can't overstate the importance of that!

Click Start and then Run and type regedit and then click OK. This will start the Registry Editor...BE CAREFUL IN HERE!!!

Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

You can delete single addresses from the address bar dropdown from there.
