Since cricket is a bat and ball game, both batsmen and bowler are important links of the game. Hence it will be unfair to single out either a batsman or a bowler as the best cricketer. Instead in all fairness one should rate best batsman and best bowler. Even in bowler there are spin bowlers as well as fast bowlers.
To me the best batsman and best bowler in the game of cricket as of now are Sachin Tendulkar and M.Muralitharan respectively.

He will make new WORLD-RECOPRDS which will never be broken.
He has already taken 58 FIVE wicket innings + 19 TEN wicket matches so far.
Has a total of 683 test wickets ( so far )
If he plays tests for 2or 3 more years, it is not impossible to take 1000.
So in my point of view, Murali is the best.
