The average lifespan of the common golden hamster (also known as the Syrian hamster) is 2-3 years. Dwarf hamsters have shorter lives.

I have to agree with the people that asked "why is this in the fish section"... Also, if you are going to ask a question, and then put it in the wrong section, at least spell the key word correctly. I bet quite a few people tried to Google "hambster fish"...

depends on what kind of hamster you are referring to?
a dwarf hamster such as the campbells, roberovski, chinese or russian dwarfs usually live arround 2.5 - 3 years with 3.5 being a very good life.
the larger hamsters such as the syrian / golden hamster average between 34 - 4.5 but can live to 5-6 if look after correctly

hamsters usually live 1 to 3 years. if you are in to rodents you should get a teddy bear hamster.
