I got married after 4 months. It wasn't a mistake for me. We both were commited to each other and wanted to be together more than anything else. I have never been happier. Everyone takes life at their own pace. Young marriages work for some people, while others need to wait years. The success of the marriage should be based on whether it is a good relationship and the two people are happy, not the age or length of time they were together. My marriage turned out to be the best thing I ever did

Its a shame when that happens. I think what has happened is once the "honeymoon period" had worn off, that they realise they have little in common, or there is stuff they don't like about each other. I married fairly quickly myself, I had known my husband for about 16 months, and had been going out with him for about 10 months when we tied the knot, but for us its worked out well, we have been married 14 years this year.
I think you have to have more in common than just a physical attraction, maybe thats why Chantelle and Preston, Britney and Fedders etc, have split up.

i concur my cuz got married while she was in highschool I think it's the fear of being alone and or not finding anyone so most humans setting for what they get first instead of looking aorund and finding true love!
I as well live with my man we have our wedding planned but he has yet to ask! it's been a year and a half i'm in my late 20's i may not wait 4 years however if he don't ask I do know i love him i guess i would wait!
people just don't think!

Celebs do it because they dont want to appear precocious.
The most of the West do it because they want to do what the Celebs do.
The normal person elsewhere gets married at a early to have progeny and enjoy life until they retire to heaven. Marriage is a serious relationship that takes a big heart and brains to run.

I think it's wrong to be rushed in marrige, because people need time to get to know each other about 4-8 years.Like my parents took 4years & 6 months.Of corse I'm only in 8th grade so my parents tell me I don't know anything about a relationship.

your right a successful relationship can be living together or just dating... but to have a successful relationship while just dating or living together gives a successful marriage.... and people seem to think by marrying someone its going to be a cure all... and marriage doesnt change anyone or their bad personalities or bad habits....

congrats on the 18 years. i don't know why anyone would rush into something that can be potentially disastrous financially and emotionally. i'm in no rush to marry, and i'm 26.
