i'm a filipina, separated with my husband, a foreigner... there's no support from him financially... am i qualified for an alimony? i really have the hard time to be back in my normal life, though i have just employed back from my previous job... but i guess he's now back in his country in britain... what shall i do? am so confused right now and can't think well or move on... please do help me...

In America you can't collect alimony unless you are divorced.

People don't get alimony anymore unless we're talking he's worth millions. Then a judge may side with you, but even then you have to prove that you can't live without his support and he is the one filing for the divorce.

Well I can only tell you about TEXAS....in Texas one must be married for a minimum of 10 years and prove they cannot support themselves --otherwise no ALIMONY...Alimony is extremely hard to qualify for in the state of Texas...because in theory everyone should be able to support themselves..and not depend upon another
