The Fairness Doctrine would apply primarily to talk radio, not the newspapers or TV.

True Conservatives have no problem with the Fairness Doctrine. If it hadn't been in place in the 60's and 70's, Conservatives would have had little, if any, voice in many markets, particularly in major population centers.
Contrary to neo-con propaganda, the Fairness Doctrine does not limit access to the airwaves (a public trust held for all the people, regardless of political orientation) in any way. In fact, it expands access and promotes the free exchange of ideas, the basic foundation on which the nation was founded. This is also the foundation of true Conservatism.
By the way, the Fairness Doctrine would only impact radio and tv carried on the public airwaves which, again, are held as a public trust. It would have no impact on cable or satellite programming, newspapers, magazines or the Internet as some neo-con, lunatic fringe types would like us to believe. And, as it is a matter of a public trust, there is absolutely no constitutional prohibition against its re-implementation. Anyone who would tell you differently is nothing more than a neo-con parrot, painfully ignorant and/or an outright liar.

No
They believe the market place should determine what is on the airwaves.
The media is liberal and if you can't see it as such tells me you are far too liberal and everything is conservative.
Please note how when lets say abortion is mention in news story. How those for abortion are refer to as Pro-choice or for women's right to choose while the other side is called abortion foes or anti-choice etc.
Air America try and fail so who is pushing this so called "Fairness Doctrine" now?
They want to limit it to just AM talk radio. I say if we are going to have a "Fairness Doctrine" it should be in all forms of the media.
That does mean newspapers and magazines.
I love to see the day Rush has an article in Mother Jones.

Cons like me don't care for the fairness doctrine, not because we're afraid of what liberals have to say; we KNOW what liberals have to say and so does everyone else.
What we DON'T like about the fairness doctrine is that liberals want Americans to pay for liberals to be on radio -- even when privately financed liberal radio failed miserably. My question is, and has always been, why do I have to pay for something that I totally disagree with?
Libs want radio shows? Get privately financed, but stay out of my pocket. I'm to busy paying for someone else's abortions.

The so-called Fairness Doctrine is aimed at radio, which the libs are whining at because they say they don't have enough say on the air waves. I guess they haven't yet realized through all of their tears that they practically own the TV news media, Hollywood and most major newspapers. How sad. It's like the movie Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Francis already has everything his heart desires, but he craves Pee Wee's only treasure, his bike, because it's the only thing he's been told he cannot have. So he steals it. This is the proof that libs are bullies. If they cannot get what they want through whining, they resort to schoolyard bullying.

Not in my opinion. It is a freedom of speech issue - they should be free to have whom they want on their shows, and to express the views they hold freely. That is all.
AND, the fairness doctrine would NOT apply to print or television media, so your argument is irrelevant anyway, as while talk radio may be conservative, networks and newspapers ARE overwhelmingly liberal.

What you don't understand is that "Talk Radio" is entertainment, so classified by liberals because they say there are no facts espoused and it can't be considered news. Trying to apply "The Fairness Doctrine" to an entertainment program was not in it's original intent. The application is wrong...THAT is what is pissing people off..

I can't believe as a member of the democratic party you are against free speech. If anybody should be standing up and screaming against the fairness doctrine it should be you. I think you are a closet fascist.
Also it is only in the context of talk radio that Liberals do not control and have no majority thats why they are complaining about it..

You couldn't be more wrong. The Fairness Doctrine does NOT apply to the printed media and news broadcasts. It is a direct assault on talk radio, because talk radio is predominantly conservative. Since the Libs have not been able to make an inroads in talk radio, they see this as their only recourse.

As far as newspapers and TV, the libs have that covered, but they want to control talk radio, where they seem to have a problem competing. Air America seems to have been a wash, now libs need to stifle the voice of conservatives. Pathetic!
