Some people are naturally more inclined to be jealous while others don't have a jealous bone in their body.

For those of us inclined to be jealous it take practice not to be. The stronger jealousy we have the longer it will take to get past that.

When you get jealous you have to get your mind on other things and not let yourself react in a jealous way. Often when we react in jealousy we ruin a relationship.

It just takes time and as we get older we seem to mature and lose some of the jealousy also.

I was struggling with the same thing yesterday. My good friend just bought a house with money that her parents gave her, while I'm struggling to pay rent on an apartment. I found that telling myself not to be jealous just makes me more tense and unhappy. First, realize that jealousy is natural. We always want to have the most and the best. So accept that it is natural. Then realize that you only feel jealous when you compare yourself to someone who has something you think you want. But you're not thinking about all that you have that OTHER people want...and you're not thinking about other things that person has that you DON'T want. My friend has had a lot of serious personal problems for years that I don't have. So why am I focusing on her house? You just have to gently train yourself to take a broader view of yourself and other people.

It's great that you're even asking yourself this question. You're well on your way.... : )

Oh, that is the easiest of negative emotions to be got rid off !
What we feel 'jealous' is of something that we do not have at present, and we see that some other person has it.
Either it is possible to have it not not.
If it is not possible to have it, forget it, gracefully accepting the reality.
If it is possible, then work towards it... See, it is joy working effortlessly, tirelessly for something we love to have ! This way, we are busy working for it, leaving no time for jealousy !

I don't get jealous.
My reasoning is that if someone has something I don't, and he won't or can't give it to me, then the only person who gets hurt by me being jealous is me!
And frankly I don't like that!

People who are better looking, smarter or richer then me still have their own demons and short comings.

Jealousy results as a pattern of thinking. When we learn to change the content of our thinking, jealousy vanishes.
