I would definitely stay home if you can. If you're like me, intense activity makes me have more Braxton-Hicks contractions. Rest and water are the only thing that helps calm them down. And you are having too many contractions your cervix could be dilating and effacing prematurely and cause early labor.

Working in 90 degree temps is also not good for a pregnant women when staying comfortable and hydrated is so important.

Can you request that maternity leave be started early? Cal your doc or midwife and ask for a letter.

You're almost there - all the best to you and baby!

Go down to your local walk in clinic or ER and pay the 10 bucks or whatever they charge for a doctor's note. I think any doctor would tell you, you are nuts working in an environment like that and would certainly write you a note allowing you the time off.

(I played hookey from work yesterday due to the heat as well, we got over 100 degrees F here plus humidity. Even though I am lucky to work in an air conditionned office, every time I had to step out of the air conditioning at home I felt sick so I said screw it. At 8 months pregnant I am not forcing myself to go to work. 6 more working days to go and then I am on leave though!!)

your doctor will give you a note for this. start your maternity leave early. just tell your doc to give you a note. you don't want to push yourself. you are far enough a long for the baby to survive if you push yourself into early labor but the longer you can keep that little angel in the better it will be for the both of you. i would call in.. i just had a baby 4 months ago and i had the same problem.. my doc gave me a letter and i left my job 8 months. good luck to you

What kind of job requires a pregnant woman to sit in 90 degrees? That's just wrong on all levels they should have moved you when you were early in your pregnancy.

If you feel like you need to take off then take off. Be lucky that you get maternity leave before you have the baby. I have to continue working up until I have her.

Why would your doc suggest to lay down during Braxton Hicks??? You can switch positions if you're already laying but if you're up walking around you shouldn't be getting them, Braxton Hicks usually subsides after getting up and being active. I would say don't call in because of Braxton Hicks, but due to it being so hot and the pain you have being at work could be other reasoning for not going....it's really up to you and your doctor...call your clinic and ask.

just stay home. Call your dr if you are feeling it getting more intense. Or if I were you I'd just go into the hospital and have them time the contractions. thats what i did with my first. The worse that can happen is that they willl send you home.

I fI were you I'd call your Dr and see if he/she will write Drs note. If he/she will, call in and stay home. If you only have two days after today, don't go back. Don't push yourself this far into your pregnancy. It's not worth it in my opinion.

I think that only YOU can really answer this. You know your body and your limits. But, again, you don't want to do anything to mess up your 'paid' leave. So, just do what you think is best.

Ok...you are prego. You do physical work. Your boss should understand that you cannot come to work...

Skip and if he has a problem, tell him to shove it up his ***.
