basicly i have just made a cheep pc now the board hasent got onboard vga so i purchest a apg 64mb (apgx1) graphics card (one which is just suppost to work when yyou plug it in

so anyway i turn on pc and nothing comes on screen the boad seems to boot up as the fan for the cpu start to spin


any ideas ANY at all at what you think the problem could be

If the machine is booting up, check to make sure the video card is in the slot correctly. If it is in the slot correctly proceed to check the rest of your connections.

I've also had this problem: Check if the video card has a connection for a power supply. If it does (which i doubt it does based on its size) make sure it is plugged in. If everything checks out ok it is possible the video card is not working.

That AGP x1 card is old.
If the previous answers didn't help, then perhaps your motherboard doesn't support that AGP card. There are different types of AGP video card slots.

Are you receiving any POST beeps? If not, make sure everything is seated correctly and all parts are compatible with the motherboard. Also, try taking out any other cards (network, modem, etc.) and see if that helps.

when its a blank screen like that but everything else responds, its very likely that its the vid card. take it out and put it back in, making sure it is seated right.
