I am about to have a spiritual reading for the first time.Is anyone able to share some experience to prepare me slightly? I met a couple who were spiritualists last year whilst on holiday. I found it very emotional as they spoke about my nan who had passed away nearly 20 years ago. They told me she was doing as I had asked and was looking after my baby boy who died just over two years ago. Will the focus of the reading be around the people I love who have died or will it include other things which are happening or will happen in my life? I am curious about where my loved ones are, I am also curious about what the future may hold.

I once did not believe any of this stuff and maybe it is the things that have happened in my life have left me with a need. I am open minded and will take things as they come and hopefully not too seriously. The people I met on holiday sppoked me that they knew so much but maybe I was led into giving away more than I realsied.

When I clicked on this question, I was hoping it was a question about God because he is the only spiritual way.
Your nan is ttaking care of your precious baby, but not because some spiritualist has told you that because God promises that we are with our loved ones in Heaven. You don't need anyone to tell you that. It's the truth and you can take comfort in knowing it. Many spiritualists are conning you but, they also want to ease the pain that the customer feels.
You miss nan and your baby and they play on that. When your emotions show, then it is easier to let info. slip that they can build on. The customers feel that a void has been filled inside and do feel better after the readings. However, it isn't real. God is. Know that nan and your baby are together and just fine.

If you are not sure about a personal reading find out where your nearest Spiritualist Church is and go there, this should help answer any questions you have. It will also give you a chance to speak to other people and form your own opinion. Please be aware that just because you go to the church it doesn't mean the medium will come to you and give you a message. I believe in Spiritualism and regularly attend my local church. Not everybody believes as some of the answers show.
Personal readings are done in private if that is what you want.

Do not be led into giving away any details.

Let them TELL you about someone. Don't let them say "someone close to you passed away, is this true" and you say yes. The fact they ask is proof that they are guessing.

If they were certain they would say "Your nan who died over 20 years ago is looking after your son as you requested".

Am I a pessimist?

Sorry, but I just don't believe all this reading stuff.

When my mom passed away I became obsessed with wanting to contact her on the otherside. I realized that I didn't need anyone to tell me what she would say because I already knew. These spiritualists will tell you what you want to hear. There is nothing paranormal about it. Please do not give them money. Also, everyone is curious about what the future may hold but there is no way to predict that. Do not let these parasites cheapen your memories by providing false ones. I'm very sorry for your loss.

The problem is that people are looking for and want comfort. Jesus provides that comfort for believers, but understand that heaven is not about individuals. The idea of communicating with those that have passed on, while comforting, isn't Biblical at all.

These spiritual readings are about "cold reading" and sometimes they will even go so far as to look up everything they can about you on the internet, and depending on how much you spend even hire PI's to find out about you. They touch on a few things that you either lead them to, or they find out about you to get your trust and then they give you comforting words.

I think you should look for comfort elsewhere, but it's totally up to you.

Enjoy your spiritual reading, but don't take every word said as gospel.

I had my first reading at age 19, the psyhic said that she didn't see any children in my future...(at the time I didn't want kids, but did not tell her that). I now have four children!
I honestly thought that I'd never have kids because of what she said. (I was young).
She did say that I have a weakness in my abdominal area, due to emotional stress. My abdominal illnesses have plagued me all my life.

I would suggest be open to the experience and trust your gut instinct. Don't go looking for definitive answers to life's questions or you will be disappointed. If you are spiritual or religious at all, say a little prayer before you go and open your heart up to any messages or guidance you may recieve

Listen and please listen carefully. You are new in this game.Stay clear and away from such people.Tell them anything, may be that you are Scared but have nothing to do with them. What you have been told are clear making of fraud, cheating and may be blackmail later.I am a stranger to you but wish you well and have seen painful results of such cases.Do not worry about your departed ones.God cared for them so far and shall do so in the future also.Good luck.

i don't believe in spiritualist! I believe in Jesus! Ask them did they get major headaches during Sept 11, Hurricane Katrina victims or any other major diseasters.Lots of people would have been trying to get in touch with the families.(not be mean) wouldn't they?

Unfortunately it is impossible to contact the dead, impossible to foretell the future, so don't be taken in by anyone who tries to tell you otherwise. However, if you want to go along and enjoy the experience then by all means do so, I understand it can be quite interesting.
