The embryo starts out as nueter until almost months later in its gestation. It will grow a penis and develop nipples, regardless of gender.
As the fetus ages, a wash of hormones determines the sex of the child, and depending on which genes are accepted by the embryo, the penis will enlarge and testicals will extend, or the uterus will form and the penis will shrink, the extra skin extending inward and being used in the passage of the vagina.
Therefore, both males AND females have nipples, and it's why if males get too much estrogen, they will end up with breasts, even if they don't function in the same way!

Starting at conception and lasting until about 14 weeks, all mammalian fetuses within the same species look the same, regardless of gender. After 14 weeks, genetically-male fetuses begin producing male hormones such as testosterone. As "female" is the "developmental default" for mammals, by 14 weeks, the nipples have already formed.
Most of the time, males' nipples don't change much past this point. However, some males develop a condition known as Gynecomastia, in which the fatty tissue around the nipple develops into something similar to a female breast. This may happen whenever the testosterone level drops because of medications (like those that treat prostate cancer) and by natural hormonal changes associated with aging, obesity, or puberty.

It acts the same way for the mens too the way it does for womens a point of stimulation if u don't feel any sensation when ur girlfriend touches it then ur not alive lol but it's to stimulate and get stimulated. The mipple has many nerve endings which get activated at a mere touch or when ur cold it hardens.
Maybe god was thinking about emergency too lol just incase the womens stopped producing milk the childrens cud use from their fathers :-p jk man
But seriously just think of this can u see a chest nippleless??? ur body wud look like dead meat man like a chicken breast ready to cook and broiled lol. So the existance of Nipple is attracting the opposite sex to it so that they too feel stimulated and feel the attraction for each others body.
When u see a female body just imagine if u don't c nipples on those mounds lol u'd feel like running away so fast even a marathon runner wud be at shame lol.

To all who said male nipples have no use: Are erogenous zones not useful?
As I write, nobody has mentioned that they're suitable for hanging jewelry from.
Or that they can be a design element in a chest tattoo.
And for a lot of us gay guys, other guys' nipples are a visual turn-on. Some guys get theirs stretched and pumped until they look way MORE than erect even when they're not, just so that other guys will notice, and ... uh, how "adult" are we NOT supposed to get here? But come to think of it, foreplay has already been mentioned, so I'll just say that rubbing can proceed to twisting and more.
A lot of us appreciate naturally big nips and/or big areolas (the frames around the nips) or, for that matter, little ones. No accounting for taste!

No point at all.
The nipple is there because it is formed in the womb before the sex of the foetus is determined. When the foetus does develop as female the nipple develops as required but for a male foetus the development stops there.

Males have nipples because all male mammals have nipples. We are mammals. Males also have mammary glands, and teen boys may even lactate (produce milk) due to hormonal changes--most never even know it, or just see a crusty residue. Males may also lactate some during the wife's pregnancy and if she nurses. Normal human function. So no, they are not just there, they do have function-- and one tribal culture in Africa has the males also breast feeding along with the females.

Because while developing an embryo can be either male or female up to a certain point, so they're equipped with these necessary areas until their sex is determined. Apparently.
If that's wrong I'm sorry, but I heard it on the radio once and it's stayed with me!

The male nipple has no use. However, we have them because, as a foetus, we develop just as girls for a while.

There is no real point. It's just left over from the time you were both/neither sex. Gender only starts to show later in pregnancy (can't remember how long)
