In May 2001, there were 2,503.

But now:

23 in Great Britain, 14 in the USA, 1 in Germany

However, here's what the USA Veterans' Office has to say:

"Because of the advanced age of World War I veterans, estimates of those alive would be too unreliable to report.


June 28, 2007
"In the 88 years since, these men, too, have fallen silent. More than 4 million Americans served in World War I. Only 14 are left. The youngest is 106, the oldest 115."

Verified veterans are: 4 in Australia, 1 in Canada, 4 in France, 2 in Germany, 5 in Italy, 1 in Poland, 3 in the UK and 5 in the USA. There are 18 others living around the world for a total of 36.

I believe that there are no more than 5 world war one veterans alive today.

We do not have to many veterans of World War 2. To be veteran of WW1 YOU NEED TO BE BORN AT LEAST in 1898 and you will be only 16.

There were so many nationalities involved so there are probably a few more than the official estimates of something around 26.

I heard from the news (BBC) that there are only 3 British survivors and quite a few German and French
