You can order many HP's with Linux installed. So loading linux won't nullify the warranty BUT you will have to reload with the restore CD's before you can get warranty assistance or service from HP! So keep those original restores handy.

Don't call them for assistance or phone support with a Linux issue.

Most mfg's can't support what they didn't sell. But all will support if it is setup like they sold it.

Hope that helps.

It might depending on the Terms and Conditions of your warranty. Possibly the warranty might get voided for any preinstalled software such as Windows but still be valid for the hardware.

Only HP can answer that question specifically and I suggest a written response from them in the event of a difference of opinions down the road.

Not sure but you can always contact them to double check with that.

Are you planning on having a dual boot between Windows and Linux or just Linux?

If you have just Linux and need support, they won't help you. If you have Windows on it and something happens to a part then they should repair it.
