Does anyone know if I would be able to get any kind of financial help from the government for a new boiler.

Mine has just broken and have been told I need a new one. I am with a housing association who I pay 75% rent to but they won't help because they say if you own 25% its your responsibility. I cant afford a new one as i've been quoted £550. I also have a 5 month old baby and I need hot water for her more than anything.

PS. My husband works full time (not a good wage) and I have a full time job but I'm currently on maternity leave.

In reference to Paul Anthony F I asked for advice, nowhere in my question did I ask for people to send money to me. Maybe you should read the questions properly.

In some areas the local council do run schemes where you can get grants for boilers, central heating, insulation etc... in my local area it's called 'Warm Front' it might be worth you contacting you local council and asking to go through to the private sector housing, they may well then be able to point you in the right direction. Failing that look on the internet and you will find loads of info you will just need to find what is relevant to your financial situation. Good Luck

Yes. Contact your local council immediately. They should get it replaced within days. As you are pregnant. Legally your council is bounded to replace it in sake of child's good health. Even you can grab your housing association to court for their neglectance. Ask your housing association to give you this in writing that they are aware of your health and pregnancy and still they are not going to help you with your boiler. Rest leave it with CAB (Citizen Advice Beauro) people they will follow your case for you.

Good luck.

no, because you both work full time-despite you being on maternity leave- you would be responsible to pay for your own boiler.
The only advice i can give is to see if you can buy a second hand boiler which would be cheaper.

You may be able to find a contractor who would take payments. Explain the situation and you may have to ask several. I know that I have done it in the past for elderly fixed income people.

You seem to have researched this quite thoroughly .

Unfortunately people especially women get confused with emotionality and actual problem solving think just by discussing it with us it will solve the problem it wont change the situation
And PS Nobody is going to send you money out of charity I shouldn't think
Tips are hard enough to get i Restaurants and that's when the person is face to face !!!!!!

The Government do not have any money. The money for your boiler would have to be paid for you by working people, many of whom do not have two full time incomes. Perhaps you could manage your money a bit better.
