Maruzen in Ginza ward of Tokyo has an English floor, and you can get lots of books there. It's on the corner of Chuo-dori, just across from Takashimaya department store.

In July:

The top floor of Tower Records in Shibuya is an English book shop. It's easy to find. Go out of the station, cross the big crossing, and look for the big yellow tower records building - it's down a street on your right.

Maruzen is also good for English books. Take the Marunouchi exit in Tokyo station and turn right. Look for the building with the big 'M' on it. English books are a few floors up - the signs are written in English.

Right now:

If you are in Japan now, some Japanese bookshops are taking pre-orders for the English version of Harry Potter, even if they don't usually sell English books, because the Japanese version won't be out for a while. Go to your nearest bookshop and you can probably order it there. My local one will order either the UK or American versions for you depending on what you want.

In Shinjuku, there is an store in the basement of the Hyatt Hotel than may have it. If not, try the book store near the Citibank branch closest to the Shijuku train station.

It has not been released yet. The best you can do is buy a pre-issue copy. I think the release date is July 21.

If all else fails, try amazon.com and order one through the mail.
