Scarface isn't really a gangster movie, it is more about the drug cartels. Goodfellas is a great gangster movie, based on a true story, Godfather 1&2 NOT 3 are good.

Goodfellas stands on it's own as Scorsese's masterpiece. I do think Leone's Once Upon a Time in America is well worth the praise and the team of Woods and DeNiro are incredible.
My personal favorite is Godfather 2. I think Coppola set the bench mark for Gangster movies.

"Goodfellas" is best for action. "Once Upon A Time in America" is VERY long, but also good. I prefer "Goodfellas". But my FAVORITE gangster movie is "The Godfather II" - I enjoyed this one so much more than the first. But a close second for me is "Donnie Brasco" with Al Pacino & Johnny Depp. Great movie!

Out of those two I'd pick Goodfellas. I love Casino too. Check out a few lesser known films- Cement, King Of New York, Ordinary Decent Criminal are good. http://www.listsofbests.com/list/2225 My husband and I love these kind of movies.

Scarface was pretty good....but my favorite mob style movie is The Departed.

It stars Dustin Hoffman and Bruce Willis. Oh, and a very naked Nicole Kidman.
