I have a 89 honda accord, 2.0 with a carburetor. it runs perfectly fine now that I replaced the whole fuel system including rebuilt the carburetor. it runs ok when its coool but once it runs for a while it starts to loose power have very lil pick up, and when I'm in some gears it jumps as if it wants to take off or stop. I just replaced the plugs wires and caps and rotor last november and that carburetor should be in so good of shap its practically new. what do you think is wrong, I'm about to chunk it out the window but my parents won't let me.

I worked really hard to buy this car myself and I've put thousands into it to make it as runnable and stable as it is now. my parents didn't help me out with anything.

Sounds like a quick trip to muffler shop should get your little honda unclogged. Poor running can cause the cat converter to fail plugging up the exhaust.

Trade it in, or spend thousands more on a $1000 car. Just make sure it's cooled off when the dealer checks it out. A new Civic or Fit are very affordable. Sounds like you pay more than a car payment a month keeping the old one running. Don't listen to the Honda haters. Most of those morons either don't own a car with all 4 wheels, or hate on things they've never driven.
Opinions are only valid if experience is involved.

hum well to me it sounds like either it could be a transmission problem or could possible have a warped or cracked head! either way you look at it if this is the case your looking at prob more money then you will want to put into a car that old! I would take it to a dealer and have it checked out! Some places have a free system check you could call around and see if you can set up a time or just run the car in to be checked for free :)

To make it short... The Accord has a new 2008 body style for around 28,000 ro you can buy a used car. You really shouldn't keep a car for more than 10 years. If the car is beat up just sell it (ebay) or as a local ad. Also DO NOT forget their are body shop's around and local Honda/Acura dealer's which can assist you.

Show this question and answer to the parents as they are of the mistaken belief that a Honda is a good car. Like the Volkswagen bug before it, the Honda is a cult favorite; highly overrated, and very very very much just a problematic piece of junk. Becauser it has this "reputation" everyone thinks it is good and reliable but they are hard and expensive to fix and something is always wrong with them (always). Most mechanics refuse to work on Honda's and BMW's as they are overloaded with unnecessary technology just to have technology. None of it is needed, wanted, or fixable without specific education in that "brand" of car. Either a new car or a trip to a shop for fixing is needed.

check the compression...if its got a lot of miles the engine could be worn out.....
could be the valves need adjusted
my truck did the same thing and it was the wires
oh just remembered....could be the coil....You can get it tested but remember to tell them to leave it on the tester for a long time...i had a coil tested the mechanic said was good i told him to leave it on longer and he said after it heated up it started to break up.....

The problem is you are a spoiled brat who thinks that by making excuses and whining and throwing something away you will be given a new one.

Get a job.
