Wow, I have a little more insight into this question than I wish I did. I manage a pet grooming salon and last year one of my groomers went through this.
They had been separated for a while, she came to me and told me she was scared something had happened to his room-mate, we called the cops and they found out that her husband had shot and killed his room-mate. He then lived in the house for almost a week with the body. We all lived in terror for a week until they tracked him down and sent in the swat team (no kidding) to get him.
She was terrified. Her husband did have an escape charge on a previous incarceration. She had two children from a previous marriage and lived in terror that he would come for them. Now a year later she is still jumping at shadows and having nightmares.
In my girls case a restrating order would not be worth the paper it was written on. The woman in question may be establishing grounds for divorce. My heart goes out to her.

Depends on who the husband is.
He may have access to 5 mil.
I don't think a restraining order is ridiculous at all, even in light of the 5 mil bond.

There's probably more to the story just because the husband is charged with a crime is not enough for the restraining order. He must have threatened her at some point. What if they drop the charges due to lack of evidence or something.
I think it's funny how most people here assumed he is guilty just because he was charged with murder.

Not if he gets off on a technicality and then comes to her house and she has no way to get him put in jail again because she didn't a restraining order.

You can't be too safe if he wants to get her bad enought he may break out of jail. But the restraining order would not stop him if he went to all that trouble and had nothing to lose anyway. Yes it is rediculous. That's lawyers for you.

not really if he is inside for murder charges hopefully he wont get out but stranger things have happened however if he has actually murdered someone he probably wont care too much about a restraining order !

No because there are too many what if's that she is probably taking into consideration, as well as she is scared to death. What if he gets out? What if he pleads to lesser charges, and doesn't do a lot of time? What if he finds her when he gets out? What if someone does bond him out?
I think that she is being cautious. It may seem ridiculous to live in the "what if's" but by the horrifying things that have been in the news lately (Jessie Davis, Benoit, and the other lady that was pg and just found dead in N.C.) I don't know if there is a possibility of being TOO cautious. She is trying to protect herself, and that is just one avenue.

No, NOT really, as a restraining order ALSO STOPS him from contacting her by phone and or by mail. No restraining order and he CAN call her or write her letters.

It depends on who he is I guess,,,, If hes some rock star that has lots of friends that might be able to work together to get him money, then I guess she has a reason to be concerned lol.. However if hes a normal guy on the street, I would say yeah. Maybe she is trying to build a case for if he ever gets released???
