Oh back pain, I can sympathise I suffer with it from time to time. Make an appointment with your GP so that you can get some professional advise although he might just end up giving you painkillers, ibuprofen etc. Ask him if it would benefit you to have a course of physiotherapy treatment or some other alternative treatments. Until you see him, try and rest up but don't become too immobile as this won't help either, just don't overdo it. Try and sleep on a firm bed at night maybe put something under the mattress just to firm up the bed, when you're sitting up always try not to slump and put a firm cushion/pillow behind the small of your back for extra support. Warmth helps too, put something warm on the affected area when you're resting, just a hot water bottle maybe, you can buy those heat pads that you can warm up in the microwave. Hope you feel better soon as back pain is such an annoying condition as it makes it so uncomfortable to do the simplest of things!

Check here a very effective Sciatica Natural Treatment ( http://cure-sciatica.info )
Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.

I had a similar problem with a shoulder injury.
I had to quit lifting for almost a year. The rest paid off though, as I am back in the gym working out as the injury never occurred.
Yeah it sucks, but it is better than being permanently damaged.
Still, as others have said, with a back injury, I would see a doctor.

a good chiropractor can diagnose a problem when muscles and joints are concerned and advise treatment better than a GP most times and as good as any other in this field of health care, most physios, massage therapists are not as qualified. i pay my chiropractor £30 a treatment, it would cost the same at a massage so i advise see a more qualified chiropractor it works for me.

I would suggest that you see a physioterrorist, sorry therapist as soon as possible. In the meantime you could apply voltarol gel, but that will only stop any pain or discomfort. Use your GP first then ask for refferal to Physio, if its a good practice it should have its own. Hope this helps.

Go for a professional sports massage. Your problem is more likely to be muscular than skeletal so they will be more use than a chiropractor to start with (and cheaper too). They will pinpoint the problem, and sort you out, they will probably give you exercises to do at home as well

YOU NEED TO SEE YOUR G.P AS SOON AS POSIBLE. I HAD LOWER BACK PROBLEMS FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS WHICH I JUST CARRIED ON WITH, UNTIL I COULDN'T WALK WITHOUT HAVING TO DRAG MY LEG BEHIND ME. TURNED OUT I HAD SCIATICA... I HAD A DISCECTOMY THIS JANUARY AND APART FROM NOT BEING ABLE TO DO ANYTHING FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS (HEALING TIME), I HAVE HAD NO MORE PROBLEMS. DRASTIC MEASURES BUT IT BEATS BEING IN AGONY FOR YEARS. DON'T KNOW WHY I LEFT IT FOR SO LONG!!!

See a therapist, chiropractor, or some other medical professional to find ot what is wrong. They can then prescribe treatment.
