does anyone know of an elvis song that he wrote the words and music without any assistance?

Nope. He never wrote a song that he sang publicly. Who knows what he may have done in private, but there are no recordings of him singing anything original.

To the best of my knowledge Elvis was a singer, never a song writer. The singer-songwriter duos didn't become popular until the 1960s.

I never saw where he wrote any songs, including gospel. He was a singer, not a song writer. No, he did not write Always On My Mind.

I doubt it. I was and am one of Elvis' biggest fans but i don't think intelligence was one of his traits.....
