Yes there are attacks that occur there, however most attacks are classified by the country or state they were in rather than the water. For example, if I was swimming in the Atlantic at Daytona Beach, that would be added in as a FL attack. Unless they are plane or boat wrecks or open water accidents, they will be thrown in with a country or state. Mainly because most attacks occur on the coast.
With the Med you have attacks that stem from both the Europe and African side of the sea. The last recorded death from a shark attack in that area was in 2004 and that was in Egypt, however I am not sure if that death was in the Med or Red Sea. The last death prior to that one would have been almost 20 years ago. Overall the Med Sea is not a "problem" area. Probably in total there have been less than 40 attacks (anything from a small cut to death) since they started to record attacks back in the mid 1800s.
As far as what sharks you would find in the Med Sea, well there are about 50 species. What you would have to worry about are the below.
-Six and Sevengill Sharks
-Sandtigers
-White Shark
-Mako (both long and short fin)
-Thresher
-Tope
-Any from the family Carcharhinidae (about 10-13 species)
-Any from the family Sphyrinidae (hammerheads)
Do not let that stop you from swimming there (if that is why you are asking). Only four people in the entire world were killed from sharks last year, and less than 100 were attacked (small cut to death). Just be smart about when, where and how you swim.

Yes there are sharks in the mediterranean, including great whites! The mediterranean touches the atlantic and it is to problem for them to swim through the many miles wide straight.

Yes of course there are sharks in the med. Whales too. Attacks are rare because we have followed a training program now for many decades which educates the dangerous sharks to go hunting for Aussie flesh. We convinced sharks a long time ago that Aussie flesh was a healthier option for them and because sharks aint stupid they have made the wise choice and leave us med folk alone.
