What is a personality for?

All animals have them... And i understand that it is our own 'Personal Identity'

But what actually is it that causes us to have a personality and why?

If there was no after life, and nothing existed after death (memories, experiences gone),
surely we wouldnt've had that personality in the first place if it'll inevitably became non-exsistent for all eternity?

does that mean god exisists and a personality is our proof?

It could be that you loose your exsistence but not for eternity, it would have to come back to play at some point if what you are doing now could exsist at all.

So would that mean that a personailty isnt who we really are but a conclusion of what another person has of you?

What about people with multiple personalities?

How could something like that happen? Do they have two states of conscience?

So your saying that i don't exsist but the view another person has of me does?
And the same with that person?

In my opinion we don't have personalities at first and when we first see, hear, touch, etc. for the first time in life our brain starts to log. And as we go through life we do things and based off what reaction we get our brains take different actions. And since no two people and experiances are the same then neither are personalities. Similar, maybe, same, no.

Basically your personality is developed as a sum of the world around you and how it influences you. And it changes everyday. You notice it to. Through life peoples' personalities change to adapt to their life.

Like someone who is abused or something. Their personality alters for the better of the being. Like being shy or scared so as to prevent an opporotunity of abuse happening again. Or becoming angry so that the person can retaliate. This is one example of how your personality can change with an experiance through life and through it you can prove that your personality doesn't define you, it is shaped by you and your surroundings. Without your personality mean your brain has to ignore the world and therefore no personality itself is a personality, it is ignorance and carelessness.

Also as for the whole there must be a reason for personalities and there must be an afterlife, etc. Well this is my opinion, I think that having a personality cannot justify an afterlife or god. For one, not everything needs a reason. Though people try to explain everything, including religion itself, there are some things that have no reason. Things that people justify by saying that there is a reason and it is a big picture thing, but simply put. Not everything needs an reason or explaination. So your personality cannot prove the existence of an afterlife and or god. Our personalities can change and therefore a "god" does not set it in stone from birth, also depending on what rreligion you are it is said we were given free will so our personality is our own and not a gods doing.

So personalities are not, in my opinion which I cannot stress enough, products of god. They are our own minds sum of our experiances and therefore does not prove a god. Also due to there are somethings that need no explaination personality cannot prove an afterlife either.

Now I am not saying there isn't one but I am saying that having a personality does not prove it.

I believe we are born all the same with all the emotions love, hate ,anger and so on it's where we learn to attach these emotions to certain events eg see a spider parent screams now we have the fear were're shown where to feel these emotions by other influences eg parents school etc. and this gives us our personalities which we need to be. Lets face it we don't know any other way of being human so we have to except the way we are but i don't understand how our personality is our proof god exists, a personality is for communication so that we can be here, as there would be no point us being here if we had nothing so how ever we got here who ever did it must of known exactly what to give us for it to work. lol you've really made me think.

As existence is constructed of the sum of nature and nurture, our personalities are formed in response to these external forces.
A child born into a loving caring family, born in an area where there is no adverse poverty will develop a totally different personality to the same child born into a life of poverty and into an incestuous and tortuous family.
There have been studies on identical twins who have been adopted into families which are totally opposites to evidence this.
The existence of a deity can not be equated as this is a scenario of a factor impossible to prove.
You can not prove a negative and therefore it is up to believers to prove the existence of god, not nonbelievers.
Since this has never been successfully proven then science will not enter the variant, however they do take into consideration the "belief in a deity"
If people have a belief of a Deity the may act different in accordance to their belief, whether real or not as this variant comes from the nurture side of the nature/nurture debate.

I think our personalities are a combination of our life experiences and emotions. I think that our bodies are only a shell for our souls/spirits to reside in while we're here. When our bodies die, our spirits live on. Our personality is who we are, where we've been and what we've learned. I definitely believe in an afterlife and that God gave each of us a unique personality and purpose in this life.

personality is a reflection of society. we are socialised as children when we are taught the rights and wrongs of life.
as we grow we exit in a society to function as human beings and our personality is reflected in our function to survive.
