Royalty is NOT silly. Royalty serves an important spiritual purpose, in being the embodiment of the country, the symbol that goes beyond politics and can bring the citizens together.
I wish we had a King and Queen instead of just a president who is not much of a symbol for the unity of our nation.
Long live the Queen! And while we're on the subject [pun], long live the Prince who is showing himself to be capable of being a very good king. His awareness of environmental issues and other matters of the heart as well as mind gives me great hope for the continuance of Great Britain well into the 21st century. His two fine sons give me real hope that the Crown is in good hands for a long time to come.

Many countries have a Monarchy, just because you personally don't agree with it doesn't make it silly.
We are a constitutional Monarchy not an absolute monarchy, the Queen has very little actual power, she is the Head of State not a Head of Government. It's no sillier than electing a ceremonial President every few years.

She is the head of state and represents the heritage and traditions of Britain. And that's the way we like it.
Edit - I see Squirrel is back to play. You know what happens when a Great Dane meets up with a rodent.
