Science is about facts. Proving things. It has nothing to do with the environment so scientists can not be green or interested in the environment? Do you agree.?

Excellent answers.Thank you. This question was in response to Byderule's question: Should Permaculture be made into a sub-category. Permaculture is design applied to people and their enviroments, through observation an it is across all disciplines. We need to share knowledge and work cooperatively if we are to find solutions to problems that are affecting us all and our society today. Thank you again.

You seem to be extremely confused about what science is, and what scientists are.

Science is not about collecting facts. Sure, collecting facts is an important part of the scientific method, but science is not stamp collecting. Science is about how we use observations to construct and test theories.

Science is not about proving things. Nothing in science is proven; everything is tentative. There is always an observation (hopefully MANY--- the more the better), that if made, would disprove a scientific theory.

Science has everything to do with the environement. The environment is nature, and science IS the study of nature.

Your last statement makes no sense whatsoever. "Accountancy has nothing to do with the environment so accountants can not be green or interested in the environment." Rubbish.

You're absoultely correct. Proving that alternate enrgy sources are not sufficiently effective to be competetive in a free market economy and establishing the fact that landfills negatively impact the ecology is all that counts.

No scientist in their right ming would try to improve the efficiency of alternate enegy sources, or do research on how to lessen the ecological impact of landfills, particularly not because he's some eco freak tree-hugger that feels it needs doing.

I guess I spend too much time in R&S, can't lay off the sarcasm anymore.

No, science is a study of natural phenomena, how can't it have no relationship with nature? Scientist all around us are busy research things to improve the quality of our environment because our development had caused heavy pollution on nature. Plus, there's branches of science that concern about environment like ecology.

No, I think that's rubbish. The study of the environment IS science, conducted by scientists. Who do you think does all the work on the environment?
