I see it too often. He supposedly says he is going to leave his wife but this is just a ploy to stall for time-and some women fall for it and have meaningless relationships that contribute to the demise of a marriage with no respect for the other partner or themselves. Why settle being second fiddle?

Because they are gullible, stupid, and desperate. The husband rarely leaves for the mistress, especially if they have community property or children. These men will tell these girls anything to get a piece on the side!!! What the mistress doesn't realize is that, even if he leaves his wife for her, he will cheat on her the same way he cheated on his wife!! "What he will do with you, he will do to you!!!"

Honestly, I don't really know. I got really close once to almost getting into an affair. I think that it's the thrill of stealing something that belonged to someone else, or maybe it's because the guy makes you seem like you are so much more special than the one he's actually married to. (Both of which are either traps or lies.)
Now that I've had that experience, I can say that I never want to get into such a premise ever ever again. My friends luckily talked some sense into me & I spent time away from the guy. I realized that what I was doing was wrong---spiritually, ethically, & morally. Whenever I look back on that time, I regret it. I may not have been the deciding factor in the inevitable demise of his relationship (both cheated on each other & I was not the first girl he tried to cheat with), but I was a contributing factor. I will always have that on my concience.

Sometimes logical, intelligent people can make irrational decisions when it comes to the emotional/sexual realm. Some of these women may have underlying self-esteem problems or other issues or they may just be selfish people. People who truly respect themselves would not get involved in such potentially toxic situations. People need to realize that anyone who cheats on their spouse with you is not a keeper because they will most likely do the same thing to you in the future.

Because men who do this talk be game and play with both their wife and the other woman. It could boil down to several different reason, from an unhappy marriage to mid life crisis. Also the other woman could suffer from low self esteem, that she does but doesn't deserve certain thing. But then their are other that do it for greed and/ or just because they can. It's one of the sad facts of life. Something that has and will go on regardless of feelings and if someone knows or not. Some are blind to their ways.

I knew of two women like that. one gal was involved with a married man for 10years! she said that it was because she liked living alone and she didnt want to become stepmother to his kids. that was her excuse
the other gal...was really in love with this married guy with a lot of money and i thought he was a creepo so...and he divorced his wife and young children to be with her...younger and more attractive than his wife.
both women were self centered and obviously didnt have any feelings for the families they broke up. but, neither did the married men they were with.

she believes everything he is telling her about the wife, and the mistress somehow feels she is superior to the wife, and the same problems won't come up, she is desperate to live the life the wife has. she has no compassion for the wife, and doesn't realize in a few years that he will feel the same way about her as he does about his wife now.

They care only about themselves. They don't stop to think who they are hurting. I'm aware the man isn't blameless, but it baffles me why any woman would be involved in doing something so heartless to another woman.

I think the woman is probably kind of lovestruck with the guy, and is appealed with the concept that she's the "better woman". Or she's just a gold digger.
