Absolutely true! Harry William Baals was mayor of Fort Wayne, Indiana, from 1934 - 1947, and then again from 1951 until he died in 1954. There is a bridge and a street named after him. He's credited with saving an historic and beautiful building, The Scottish Rite Auditorium, from destruction during The Depression.
