Lycra is a brand name for spandex fiber. Lycra is never found 100% in a clothing item. Don't worry about how to care for the Lycra spandex; it is very durable. Instead, focus on the rest of the fiber content, whether it is cotton, silk, polyester, etc.
Some people say that items with spandex should be dry cleaned because with heat, spandex can rupture. This is true only under certain conditions: the heat is extremely high and the spandex is under much stress for pronlonged periods of time. (Think of a woman's shaping girdle). For most clothing items, the spandex is not under that much stress. It should be fine.
