I will send her to a charitable organization which can feed her, and find her housing. They will help her get schooling and assist her with finding a job. Counseling is part of this process, so people who need mental or emotional counseling can get it, and get onto disability if necessary. It works, and continues to help generations into the future.

First off, everyone has a skill or talent. Start from the basic 'everyone has something they are good at' and work from there. Desperation comes from people not realizing a plan or any course of action.

Secondly, care for the basics: food, housing, clothing. Figuring out how to accomplish the small things gives incentive, allows people to see progress happening, momentum is building and can be used to propel the person further.

Thirdly, find out what skill they are good at. Once you find the skill, then you can translate it into a occupation. Most talents have obvious relationships to the kind of work a person will be good at, so assessing talent leads one on a direct path to finding employment.

Each step logically and inevitably leads to the step that follows, and with each step assessed and accomplished, confidence grows and despair lessens. Marketers have plans, so attack it as a plan, and it will unfold by itself.
