There are a number of states that will let you take the bar exam if you have finished the equivalent of an apprenticeship with an attorney. This is known as "reading for the bar" - something that was relatively common 50 or more years ago, but is now very much out of fashion, though it remains on the books in a variety of states.

California. My fiance is going through the whole law school application process, which is how I know. You should go to law school anyway, though, because it's hard to get a job when you don't have a JD.

Probably not. That would upset the "system" and lots of people would lose money and power.

You have to jump through the expensive hoops and bow to the elite gatekeepers, first.
