Regarding their cinemas? Well, I like Korean most because they are more close to reality compared to Japanese. When it comes to drama, and love stories, Korean shows that they are romantic which is true in reality. While Japanese produce some romantic stories which I don't know where they got the idea and yet in reality its too far. They are only good in making anime and manga.

I'm Korean, but I think the Japanese are a lot better at producing dramas. Korean dramas suck, they're so predictable, it always includes a love triangle, someone gets hit with a car or gets stuck in the hospital and falls into a coma; and someone always dies in the end. horrible stuff. haha
but I find Japanese acting sometimes over the top in movies; but Japanese directors are amazing. I don't really prefer one over the other though; I'm pretty white washed and I don't watch very many asian movies and such, so I couldn't really give you the best answer. [:

If you're talking about movies, I would say that Korea has the better movies. Just look at the number of movies that have gotten wide acclaim from critics. For example, "The Host," "Secret Sunshine," "Old Boy," "Shiri," "My Sassy Girl," among many many others. Not saying that Japanese movies are bad, but I think Korean movies have a few that are really good.
BUT, Japanese horror movies own Korea's hands down.

If you're talking about dramas, I have to say Korean dramas are pretty predictable and cliche.. It's starting to bore me cause I can see every little thing coming. I can't say anything about Japanese dramas cause I haven't seen one.

Japanese is my favorite. One of my favorite actresses is Kou Shibasaki. Plus Ken Watanabe, but he's more into American Cinema. I love the movie "One Missed Call" though. Though I haven't seen a whole lot of Korean cinema.

I would say Japanese, but I am really not into either. I prefer the good old USA cinema.
