How if doesn't have the wireless base station to be connected including the above the wireless network?

Well I will take a shot at this although I don't quite understand the question.

There are two main types of wifi networks.

There are AD-HOC networks (wifi) which are computer to computer networks. These do not require a "base station" just computers talking to each other. These are peer to peer systems.

There are Infrastructure networks which are systems connected to a "base station" called an access point (which can be built into a router etc). For lack of a better term these are client / server systems if you think of the router/access point as a "server".
