Rented a cabin in the mountains in upstate NY. No electric or running water, went fishing, played volleyball, swam in this ungodly cold lake to bathe, had a cook out, played cards and sat by the fire half the night, it was so nice to get away from everything.

I forget what year it was, age gives you that privilege, but I remember a wonderful 4TH in Aspen and what it use to mean. FUN!
It started out with the dogie costume pageant: There was a dachshund that won, dressed up as a school bus. Then there was the parade with the nude women in the hot tub. This was followed by the fire brigade throwing candy and water into the hot masses along the parade route (it is now outlawed to throw candy and water at the crowds) My favorite part of the parade is the dogs, mostly golden retrievers, with at least two tennis balls in their mouth. At some point somebody throws buckets of tennis balls and all the dogs go wild, and it is not uncommon to see a dog with at least 5 tennis balls in his mouth. It's great!
One year while being in the parade I actually had a man run down from the third floor of some hotel along the route, he claimed he loved me, though I had no idea who he was. I imagine it was a lot like the Mardi Gras for him. Ah, what a heady experience. This was all followed by intense fireworks (sponsored by Gucci) which started the mountain on fire. I may add that being on the mountain while the fires started from the fireworks and trying to evade the flames is an experience worth having especially while being on mushrooms it is an experience I would encourage anybody to enjoy. The mushrooms added a very special touch not to mention the trailing effects of light while trying to escape fire. Although I must add that the fire was especially hypnotizing. However, one should never get to close to the flames. Even if it is the 4th! I can only hope that there are people out there having such a great time as can be had. Happy Fourth of July!

I was a teenager and the neighbors across the street had a huge block party. My boyfriend came too. They played awesome music to dance to and the food was SOOOO good.
Everyone in the neighborhood came and brought food.
I had on the cutest dress that day. It was new and I loved the way I looked.
Everybody set off firworks as soon as it got dark. The party was such a success, it lasted until after midnight.
Everyone had a blast. I'll never forget it. The best 4th of July ever!

The bicentennial was a great holiday, my favorite was going to a big football stadium in Las Vegas, to watch fireworks, and being able to leave really fast because I had my motorcycle so I skipped the traffic. I felt like a king.

I was also 13. I was at the pier in Pismo Beach, and The Toadies were playing. They never got really big or anything, but they were definately a one-hit-wonder with their song "Opposum Kingdom". Anyways, beside the point. I was there with family and a friend, and me and my friend met this guitar playing, barefoot guy who sang us a bunch of songs, before he passed out. He totally missed the fireworks. Umm, we were there all day, there were a bunch of different competitions going on, like volleyball and this unicycle race. Everyone was drunk, but this was before I had any cares for drinking, partying, guys (for the most part). It was definately a summer to remember. Oh, and I got the best tan of my life!

my best memory is also my worst...we attended a town picnic(small town) and everyone was there from morning till late at night. food, music and lots of games etc. I had a major crush on a guy and he picked that day to flirt and get to know me. we spent most of that day together walking around and having a good time(we ended up "going together" after that)
however.....in an effort to impress him(hoping) I wore a tank top.....and ended up with the worst sunburn of my life. I got blisters, couldnt sleep properly for days, and was in so much agony you cant imagine.....oh the memories of youth!....sigh_

When I turned 21, me and my best friend (name withheld) went out and had a double firework shoot off and bbq. I was born on the 2nd of July, (two days early according to my mom) so we shot off a double load of fireworks in the church parking lot by house.

Couple years ago I had my brithday party on the 4th in NYC. Then we drove home just as all the towns started to set off their fireworks. It was amazing to watch every 300 feet something blow up beautifully in the sky!
