My harddrive is almost full. I've tried everything: From deleting old files to using the "Free up space on my harddrive" button in Control Panel, but all it does is clean up a few megabytes. I want to clear up Gigabytes. I only have about 2GBs left.

EDIT: I have been deleting unnecessary items a lot lately.

Burn all your photos and documents to CD's or DVD's then delete them.

If you installed programs or games from a CD, uninstall the ones you rarely use.

Download this trial utility to see what is using up all the space. (I use it and found it at pcworld.com. It's great!) It has many useful features and will clean up all your temporary files, not just some.)

1. Uninstall unnecessary programs @ Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and uninstall those that you are not using anymore.
2. Copy your Saved files on a CD and erase on your PC after.
3. Do a Disk Cleanup @ Start>My Computer, then right click on your Disk Drive and select "Properties", click Disk Cleanup>Ok, wait for a few minutes then Check the box for the files you want to delete (better to select them all then proceed.
4. Defragment your Disk @ Start>My Computer, then right click on your Disk Drive and select "Properties", under "Tools" tab, select "Defragment" and proceed....that's all I can suggest.....

Start>Right-click My computer>System Restore>Settings and move the meter in the middle and that'll give you an extra 10GB or turn it off and you get 20GB but be careful since you might need it so doing the middle option is better.

Uninstall stuff you haven't used in two months. If you really really need them, write them onto a DVD or something and delete the copy on the HD.
