Yes, we eat kangaroos. It tastes a lot like venison. Like most game meats, you better not overcook it, because it will go tough very quickly (it's a very low fat meat). It's great with Kakadu Plum sauce, or Bush Tomato. I do a version with a cherry sauce, and another one with apricot. It's a great summer BBQ meat. Bush Tomato, Alpine Mint, Kakadu Plum Lemon myrtle and Wattleseed are native plants that are fantastic spices, and they all go well with kangaroo.

It's very cheap in a lot of places (despite what an earlier answerer says). I can get it for $6/kg when equivalent quality beef is $11/kg. Other meats I have cooked include emu, crocodile, water buffalo, wallaby, snake, camel, silkworm pupae and scorpion.

Mate, we do eat kangaroo meat. That's what the kangaroo farms are for!

And you Americans eat "exotic" meat too! A friend in Atlanta even eats croc meat!

I'm an Aussie. They do sell roo meat in shops. They have steak, sausages and rissoles. It's quite expensive too. I've never tried it and don't intend to. It doesn't seem right to me. We have some that is lemon and wattleseed flavour (WTF??!!). So much for Skippy and our national emblem!!
