Both are very talented all-rounders.
Vass ddnt have a chance to score his maiden century coz he bats @ 7 or 8.
When even he bats well, he ddnt have a partner to go with.
As you know, SL tailenders are not good with bat.
Otherwise Vaas could get his 100 much earlier than this.
Anyway, Congradz both Vaas & Pollock.

While Vaas has scored a Century in the Test Match against Bangladesh in in current series and has also scored few runs for Sri Lanka in both forms of cricket, he is not at all consistent as compared to Shaun Pollock. Hence Shaun Pollock is by all means a better allrounder than Vaas.

Yes, vass is an unsung hero in sri lankan team as most people say. He hasn't been highlighted in bowling and also batting. Because his bowling abilities and records have been over shadowed by the Murali's bowling. He always scores very valuable runs for SL and he does not give away his wicket easily. I think this century was too late to his ability. Before this century he had scored 11 half centuries. Pollock is a very good all rounder. He has scored 02 centuries and 16 half centuries in test cricket. But from these statistics you cannot tell the how good these batsman. Every one scores according to the situation. In the south african line up, there are good allrounders in the lower oreder.Such as Andrew hall, Nicky boje, Kemp. Therefore he can spend lot of time in the middle. But Vass had not enough opportunities to stay in middle. Most times he bats with tailenders such as Murali. Therefore Pollock's batting statistics better than vass's batting records.
According to the latest ICC Test Allrounders rankings Pollock is standing in 03rd place and Vass is standing in 05th place. No big difference.

They are extremley similar, but Pollock has been portrayed in the media as more of an allrounder, which he is but Vaas has never been really touted as an allrounder. Vaas is a very handy person to have in the lower order, in fact, i think he should be coming in at number 5

Yeh ! these two are Pillars of the team. And couregious Vaas has made his image bowling of Srilanka in the presence of Murali. Its very difficult to prove urself in the presence of Big Gun like Murali. But Pollock is Far better in Batting then Vaas ..

pollock is better cause he scored a century in a ODI and vaas scored in a test so that means that pollock is better there and pollock is far better with the bat than vaas.

They are sooo much similar in their respective roles for their teams that it's hard to compare. But since Pollock has scored more and has taken more wickets, I would keep him slightly ahead. Still, both are amazing cricketers!

Vass is better than Pollack because Vass bowls with his left and makes the records. Pollack on the other hand bowles with his right hand. Vass is the number one left-handed bowler.

Your observation and comparisons are good; good observation. Both are good bowlers inspite of their advanced age. They both contribute with the bat every now and then. So you can call them both all rounders of sort.
