whether it's a thousand years from now or only a hundred -- until we start planning and taking steps toward world peace, it will not happen. on some level, we all desire to live communally in harmony. despite the many challenges and obstacles, i believe the solution is within all of us and we need to examine the process.
would it require a self-sustaining economy not based on money?
how do we implement a new way of thinking that motivates people to work, educate, live as a community?
throw out the notion that "good fences make good neighbors" and realize that someday there will be no fences because there will be so many people we will be faced with the challenge of surviving as a species with the limited resources and available space. how do we create a truly sustainable way of life that benefits everyone?
thank you for taking the time to read this thought, i look forward to hearing your answers.

i keep hearing "if you look at the past", but how do you reach something like world peace if you are focused on the past? just because you failed yesterday, last week, or a minute ago does not mean you will fail tomorrow. the past does not equal the future. so if we focus on what the future should be and keep our focus there, it is the only way to move towards that goal... wouldn't you agree?

You will know it exactly, as long you achieve and embody state of Peace yourself.

The only way that I can see is to limit population in all groups and races. Most wars are started over natural resources, which at this time is not being produced at equal speed as consumption by an ever increasing world population. There are some countries (China) that are already doing this.
Also, most if not all religious views would have to evolve (can you even use those two words in the same sentence?) to where it is acceptable to let others have a different point of view on the same god or even different gods. I think with these two major steps (there is some gaining of acceptance on an individual level on the religion issue) world peace might finally be within reach.

i don't see that it is. um, unless there is some kind of "enligtenment" on the entire world all at once, it's just not possible. never has been and in all honesty with the challenges the world faces today, i sure dont see it.
the united nations is a failed organization and that was the last best hope. had the united nations been stronger and not so committed to individual states and governments, possibly. in other words, if you had one world wide organization, who had all the nukes, and the power to rule on any confromtation with devestating certainty, and the willingness of all the world to abide by that structure...possibly. BUT that organization would have to be above individual states needs/wants/etc...
don't see it happening man. i mean, the world, no matter how small or large at that time, has never ever had peace and never ever will....well that is until someone finally pushes the button OR the big asteroid hits, OR the next ice age and we all get that good everlasting peace....
sometimes i think man needs to war and fight and have conquest...it seems like it's inborn......
i keep hearing "if you look at the past", but how do you reach something like world peace if you are focused on the past?
such a dreamer! but surely you have heard the saying, "anyone who doesnt understand the past is DOOMED to repeat it."? right? so of course we must look at the past, learn what we can from our mistakes and our triumphs and move on! SO maybe our future is our past? maybe so....

Some of you might wonder, "What is world peace? What does it mean?" On some dictionaries it appears as being an ideal of freedom, peace and happiness among and within all nations.
Benito Juarez, a Mexican leader, once said that people must have an understanding of other individual's opinions, laws, religions and rights,(and be able to respect them) in order to have world peace. So, with that said, is it possible for Earth to achieve world peace?
Many are optimistic and dream that one day, all people on Earth will stop fighting, to together and in peace, live better lives. But some people think that is something almost completely impossible. If there is mistrust, hate and terrorism between nations, it will take years and years for Earth to achieve world peace. Also, we have to remember that cultural and religious differences have always been motive for battles all throughout history, and it's more likely than not that people will keep on arguing to defend what they believe in. As long as there is rich people and poor people, advanced countries and uncivilized ones, democracy and communism, and major differences between people in general, we won't get close to world peace anywhere soon.
But if world peace is what everyone wants, why are some people opposing to it? There isn't an accurate answer, really. They must have some kind of interest or resentment against other people because of things that they've gone through. If we analyze terrorist acts like the shooting at Columbine or Virginia Tech, which are acts totally and completely against all morals of peace, you can see that the ones responsible for them were sick people, with a sense of insecureness for themselves and were also individuals who felt left out of the good things in life. In my opinion, they did this horrible things because of a resentment they had for all the people that did have a good life, and they felt that it wasn't fair for them to be the ones that did not fit in, the ones that people did not want to be around.
No one can really tell if our generations will live to see world peace. One thing is for sure, though, if we all star taking responsability from now on, especially us, kids, who are tomorrow's leaders, and we teach our friends, family and descendants the importance of living in harmony, then we can be certain that our long-dreamed goal, "World Peace," will not be so unreachable as it is right now.

World peace isn't possible. There never was, never is or never will be a peaceful world. Chaos is the driving force in which everything in the universe operates. If you believe in the bible, it tells us that Adam and Eve would have lived in utter contentment and peace had the evil snake not chance along - but then wasn't this snake also created by God - in effect, he planned for this fall from grace. If you are scientific, the Universe was created from an explosion of a giant mass of particle in the universe. Such explosion wouldn't happen if there is no chaos within this giant mass. In this day and age, things happen because people act and react - these are by themselves chaos. If you want to find peace, go to the cemetery.

There is but one way that world peace can be achieved and that is for all of humankind to fully realize that we are all in this life together and as living organisms no one person can live unaffected by the actions of others, even in a cave. With this realization comes the idea that each man affecting all others with a positive activity will cause another positive reaction and so on down the chain. As God taught us ... we are all part of this one great body. And as man has taught us, it only takes one spoil-sport to ruin the whole game!

World peace is not wishful thinking like some may believe. The world was designed to sustain world peace and as humans it is very much an attainable reality. The enlightened beings of today and of times past, are examples of what is to come.

If you take a close look at this world, and throughout our entire History, from the beginning of time, we have always had war and suffering on this planet...even in the "Book" that is supposed to give us hope: the "holy" bible. It too has only stories of war and suffering [even in Revelations.] Our so-called Saviour: Jesus Christ, that we're supposed to look up to, was crucified. Where is our Heavenly Creator as this is all going on throughout the history of all Mankind? I think that He was so ashamed of us that He took off to a different galaxy. I don't believe that world peace is achievable.
