Sounds like they're leaning towards the center. Funny how some polls define anything left of Cheney as "the left"

Gay marriage isn't a left/right issue. And most young Americans don't see any great stigma attached to one's sexual orientation. Some support marriage, some don't. Most support some kind of civil unions that would allow gay couples the same benefits and rights (in terms of handling medical care, last wills and similar legal issues ) as heterosexual couples. Whether it's recognized as marriage or not is another issue.

Health care is currently a disaster, and the general public overwhelmingly supports doing something about it- whether it's government run, privatized- whatever, there needs to be some form of health care available to ALL citizens.

Very few people support an "open door" policy on immigration, but the realists among us realize that the millions of illegal immigrants who are already here, aren't all going away. If someone has been here for 20 years, working, paying taxes and raising kids- there should be some legal route for them to pursue in order to become citizens- but it shouldn't be automatically granted to everyone.

Absolutely.

Something I noticed recently (and it was honestly kinda disturbing) I went to YouTube looking for a (positive or at least neutral) video on Rudy Giuliani. And All I found was a bunch of videos about how Rudy is evil and Ron Paul is the new wave of the future...
Now, I personally have no problem with R.P. In fact, some of his ideas are truly progressive and rather, refreshing for a politician. However, I must say...
it sounds like young America wants the Republican party to be more leftist... yikes!!!

I'm thinking a good number are, but pray that it's not a majority. I would like to think there are some in this young generation out there who are of good moral values, and patriotic to their country.

The problem lies in the education system, I think. It seems that today colleges are teaching this leftist garbage, and turning these kids into deviants, homosexuals, and American hating liberals. This generation has not experienced hardships yet, but they will. And when those times come, they will be ill prepared to meet the challenge. They have become lax, lazy, and government dependent. They have little to no patience or self-control. They have little thought or consideration for others. When the hards times hit, they will be in big trouble, and will become part of the fleeing masses. I hope there will be a remnant of good kids out there, who will defend this country and the original values it stands for.

It really depends on what class they're from. People are more extremely left or right than I've ever seen them. Kids of upper class parents will tend to be right-wing and very conceited about it while kids from poor families are going left.

When you have extreme Conservatism you have fascism. Extreme liberalism is Communism.

The USA is becoming half of each. We're a schizophrenic nation and it's no wonder people around the world call this country crazy.

The New York Times is a totally liberal biased paper. The major networks are biased (except for fox), and mtv always has some gay nonsense on. I hope young people have more sense than that.

i'm young, but i know universal health care insurance won't work since i came from a country that went bankrupt from it, and i don't think illegals rushing in is doing america any good (some illegals = ok though since that's inevitable), and gay marriage i'm not sure about (not married yet)

I'm leaning to the side that doesn't think people's philosophies can be summed up into only two categories. I'm also leaning to the side that doesn't trust polls, especially if they're obviously politically motivated.

Yes cause that's the way it always is. Young people tend to be more liberal than older people. Young people want to change the system to give equal rights to everybody and create a good government. The liberals want to do that, but the conservatives just want to keep this corrupt government in place because they are a bunch of rich homophobic snobs.
