It all boils down to removing the blocks we have allowed society to erect around our idea of love.

It takes discernment to know what is actually good for us and then yes when that is done appreciation is called for, for how else do we feel happiness.
The thing is though, life is not so black and white..... The world can be a big ugly place and finding the the good in it is sometimes a difficult process. In my experience moments of happiness here and there are all I can ask for.

In other words, count your blessings?
That's a good idea, but it can also breed contentment.
I am not content to allow rampant immigration and greedy globalization to destroy our way of life that we (rightly) have taken for granted. When entire industries and even towns are destroyed by insane policies, we shouldn't just say "well, at least i still have the shirt on my back"

I don't think that "life" boils down to that, but I think it's an important thing to keep in mind and I always try to think of it. I think people with that philosophy are generally nicer and make more out of life than people who only worry about themselves and don't appreciate things they are given.

I don't know that 'it all boils down' to that, but it is certainly wise to do so. Acceptance of the way things are when they aren't going well is another bit that is similarly related to happiness according to the latest research.

Get out of the philosophy section. You should consider taking at least philosophy 101 before you post something as silly as this question. The syntax of your question is awful.
What is it?
What is appreciative? Taking things for granted?
Who said in the first place that it all "boils down" to those things?
Once it boils down to those things what does that mean. That being those thigns will make you happy? Successful? are either of those things good ends in themselves?

What is IT?? What is this it that boils down?? Clarify, please. The question does not make sense unless I attempt to read your mind to fill in the blanks...

If we have great humility (not shame or embarassment) we take responsibility for our short-comings and attribute gratitude for all that aids us for success.
