Angels And Demons should be something to consider. It's a good thought provoker on the constant fighting between science and religion. Albeit over the top at times but nonetheless a good read.

well if you are into sci-fi-ish books that are intended for adult and have some slight adult content, there is Book of Shadows by James Reese, and one of my personal favorites is House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielwski. Another good one is Living at the edge of the world, i cant recall who the author is. sorry.
