I'm one of those people that likes sulking whenever I'm depressed. I can't listen to happy music to snap myself out of it. I get in awfully down moods and I'm looking for music that will suit my moods. Any suggestions?

(btw... I'm a big fan of classic rock mostly. Anything along those lines would be beneficial. But, I'll take anything.)
thx

Classic rock...now this is my cup of tea....

"A Day in the Life" by the Beatles...noticed your screen name : ) (I know there is an upbeat verse or two, but the rest is pretty dreary.)

"Dust In the Wind" by Kansas

"Nights in White Satin" by Moody Blues

"Who'll Stop the Rain" by CCR

"Vincent" by Don McLean

"Dream On" by Aerosmith

Hope this helps...or doesn't help ; ) as the case may be.

I've found I can relate to a lot of Nine Inch Nails songs when I'm depressed. Particularly The Fragile, I Do Not Want This, The Becoming, Gave Up, Somewhat Damaged, The Wretched, A Warm Place, The Way Out Is Through, Something I Can Never Have, and of course Hurt.

classic rock-
Dust in the Wind by Kansas (obvious)
Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
The Long and Winding Road by The Beatles
Hurt by Johnny Cash (Johnny Cash music is very depressing)
Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin
Turn the Page by Bob Seger
While My Guitar Gently Weeps by George Harrison

modern rock/alternative/whatever:
The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars
All That I've Got by The Used
My Friends by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Tonight, Tonight by the Smashing Pumpkins
Swing Life Away by Rise Against
The Scientist by Coldplay
I Will Follow You Into The Dark by Death Cab for Cutie
Good Riddance by Green Day
Waste It On by the Silversun Pickups
Three Seed by the Silversun Pickups
Hey by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Hemorrhage (In My Hands) by Fuel
It's Been A While by Staind
Everything Changes by Staind
Be Yourself by Audioslave
Best of You by the Foo Fighters
Californication and Scar Tissue by the RHCP are kind of sad too.

I went down my windows media player albums looking for sad songs, then I tried to think of some classic rock. Must have edited it like 10 times.

I'd listen to Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode (The Darkest Star, Damaged People, etc.), Chevelle (Bend The Bracket, Send The Pain Below), Alice In Chains (Rooster), Audioslave (Like A Stone), Eighteen Visions.......

Personally, I find slow songs like "Bend The Bracket" to be better I'm -feeling-depressed songs than whiny emo ones.

Nah. You want truly depressing songs. Go with

S.I.A. - "Breathe Me" (saddest song ever)
Blue October - "Amazing"
Straylight Run - "Now It's Done"
Rachael Yamagata - "Even So"

I get what you are saying about sitting there and sulking in the music. And though, I like classic rock too, I find that these incredibly poignant songs generally come from really emotional, lyrical writers. All those songs are fantastically depressing.
