House Of The Rising Sun...The Animals (60's). They made the song famous, but it is not original to them. It is an old folk/blues tune from the 30's. In 1970 a group named Frigid Pink re did the song and had some success with it, but The Animals 1964 recording still remains the most famous.

and recently, in U2 and Green Day's remake of The Skids's 'The Saints are Coming', Billy Joe Armstrong sings part of this song in the opening to the Saints song.
