1. We need to do a lot of things to solve the illegal immigration in the US. To do nothing is unrealistic. I understand the frustration that people have on both sides of the issue.
2. I believe that we should give a temporary visa to all the illegals in this country. (One or two years) Identify the people. Make them pay taxes properly. In that period, solve the problems. Get rid of anyone that has not signed up. Improve the reporting process. Slow down the border crossings. Set up an allocation of green cards for those illegals with the temporary visas. 250K, 500K. I don't know. But there are people here that are honestly working hard and trying to be good citizens but started illegally.
3. I would vote for a candidate that is willing to do something and not just sit on the sideline and complain.
4. A 4. Like a lot of his issues. Lots of talk and nothing completed.
5. Bush - reluctantly and regrettably.

1) I do not like this bill at all. The more I hear about it, the more I dislike it. It potentially offer amnesty and an easy path to citizenship for 12 million+ illegals who haven't been paying the same taxes as the rest of us for a while and won't for a while to come, thus creating a huge burden on our programs like Social Security, Medicare, the education system, etc. Also, it takes jobs away from LEGAL citizens. On top of all that though, the things you don't even hear about are the facts that it would double the amount of immigration allowed to the US in general and heavily increase how many visitors we receive. This all while we have pretty high unemployment and the looming threat of terrorism. How stupid! We should be securing our borders, not opening them up wider! This hurts our livelihood, and could even result in the loss of lives! It's very reckless.
2) We should begin tracking down their records, locating them, making judgments on whether they should be deported or not based on their work and criminal records, finding out if they have any family or friends who could sponsor them and help them on the path to legal citizenship if they haven't done anything illegal besides jumping the border and working illegally assuming they're willing to pay back taxes and become real citizens.
3) Grudgingly I might. I'd prefer not to have to choose, but it looks like most candidates are for it, or at least not against it. Some of them at least have tried to add amendments and change it. I can respect that.
4) somewhere between a 3 and 5.
5) Kerry/Edwards (but don't hold that against me, I know you're a Republican asker, yet still, I think we can reach some bipartisanship on this issue. Not all Democrats in Congress are for this silly deal either, thank God)

1.) I think the Immigration bill is way overdue. There are currently way more than 12 million illegal immigrants in America. There needs to be a process set up where they can become legal faster, so they don't end up becoming illegal. Immigrants enhance America. They can help enhance it more by becoming legal, so our government can worry about things somewhat more important.
2.) You allow them to stay here on a temporary visa while they're waiting for their green cards. During this time, they must show that they have the proper knowledge to become American citizens.
3.) Yes I would. The bill, though not perfect, hits where it needs to be hit.
4.) I would have to say a 4.5. Our borders are basically a joke. I don't mind immigrants coming, but they have to do it legally.
5.) I voted for Nader.

RLP did you know that if those people are made legal citizens and begin paying payroll taxes that they will qualify for earned income tax credit for making low wages?
That's $700.00 per tax filer and if you multiply that by 12 million that's a substantial amount of money that the Government is going to have to cough up the following year.
Also President Bush made a deal with the Senators that voted against this bill that if they pass it this time he will return the favor and help pass some of the bills they have on the table.
So what it's come to basically is "If you scratch my back I'll scratch yours".
And I think that the illegals should be deported back to Mexico simply because they have broken our laws and shouldn't have ever been here in the first place.
The people who are trying to become legal citizens and have been waiting a long time to do so will in fact sue our Government for allowing the illegals to become citizens ahead of them.
Our president has failed us and has turned against us and in my opinion he should be impeached.
I voted for Bush back in 2004 for lack of a lesser evil and from the way it looks I'll have no other choice but to vote the same again in 2008.
Bush has elevated himself to Dictator status and seems to think he can do whatever he wants.
In my opinion him and Cheney should be fired because they both have failed miserably at representing the people they are supposed to and instead have become puppets for the rich coorperations who have bought them out from under us.
Their positions have been jeopardized and they can no longer be trusted to do right by the citizens of the United States.
I only recently learned that in order to bring about Socialism and New World Order they will need to take us down to the same financial status as the rest of the world.
They don't want to bankrupt American Citizens they just want to make us as poor as everyone else in 3rd world countries.
And what better way to do that than to lower our wages and make finding a decent paying job next to impossible?
Amnesty is the key to it all and our own President is the one trying to make it happen.
He is a traitor to the American people and I think if we want to save ourselves we need to get rid of him.

1) No one will enforce this deal, either.
2) They should be sent to their countries of origin, or made to work in prison camps.
3) No.
4) 5 (same as Clinton, Bush 41, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, and Kennedy. Eisenhower paid attention to the problem.)
5) the Libertarian candidate. I couldn't vote FOR either crook.

I voted for Bush in 2004; I give him a minus 5 on the border. Any Senator who voted for this is now on my permanent do not vote for list.
I would punish employers who knowingly hire illegals. I would confiscate the property and send them to prison for long periods of time; just like drug dealers. I believe those employers are more dangerous than drug dealer.
Once the economic incentive was removed the illegals would not come and most of them would move on their own.

1) It's a horrible way of trying to appease that voting demographic (yes, they vote) at the expense of American workers.
2) Deportation for those who are caught in a crime. Unfortunately, you can do much about those already here, but securing the borders for once to make sure that hundreds of thousands more illegally cross sounds like a plan.
3) No, but do I really have a choice? I HOPE so!!!
4) 5
5) LOL--good one! None of your beeswax!!!

2)Give the illegals and their anchor babies one free bus ticket to Mexico and put at the end of the legal immigration line.If they refuse then round them up and put them on a list of "no return".Criminals put on "no return" list or jail .Huge fines for first offense (businesses) that hire illegals. After they go home then hand out visa to those that have waited months or years to come legally(temp or to become citizens).
3).same as answer to 1.
