Invest in a larger tank rater than a heater.

For the guy under me--I work at a pet store (but I make $8 an hour)!! People are taking advice from me.
Not every pet store employee doesn't know what they're talking about, but I will say most of them don't.

You are mixing fish with different temperature requirements.

Black Moors should be kept in water with a temperature ranging from 66 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Plecos prefer a water temp. of 73 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Some plecos can tolerate cooler water, perhaps down to 65 degrees F., provided the water temperature decreases gradually over a period of days. So if you have the right kind of Pleco, 70 degrees will be ok and you should not need a heater. Just don't let your tank get below 65 or your Plecos are going to be in trouble! You should research the exact type of Pleco that you have.

HOWEVER, both of these fish need a lot of room and are entirely unsuitable for living in a 10 gallon tank.
Regular Plecostomus can live 10 years and probably much longer and grow to be at least 24" long.
At maturity, the Black Moor will reach a size of eight to
ten inches and can live for up to 25 years. They produce a lot of waste and need a very large tank even for their size. 55 gallons would be too small for the fish that you have. Please check out the websites below and consider getting either a VERY big tank or some different fish.

You 1) should not keep any Fancy Goldfish (Moores included) in a 10 gallon tank, they get about 8 inches long and make a lot of crap. Same with Plecos, they are very messy. Try to upgrade your tank to a 30 gallon, then worry about a heater when it gets closer to winter. Goldfish are coldwater fish so you just need to run the tank at about 70 degrees. I don't know why you got a Pleco, it is a tropical fish that will only surivive in your Goldfish tank. Give the Pleco away, it is a waste of space, it stops eating algae when it gets older, and it gets aggressive.

wow! where do you live! they wont survive in taht tiny tank, but if you decide to be humane and put them in a larger tank, that is probably an OK temp -- keep it in the 70 range.

You believed a $6 an hour guy working at a petstore? THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DWARF BLACK MOORE. Petstore people are no different than cashiers at SAfeway, only an idiot would take advice from them. Your blackmoores are suffering, please help them.

LOL? just because YOU had them they dont grow that big? blackmores need a bigger tank or your fish are going to get stunted and die. Buy a bigger tank or get new smaller fish.

your tank is way too small, you were lied to, goldfish do not need heaters, those fish don't go together, read up on proper fish care
