What does a person do when a city has city orinance and they allow their friends, and people with status to get away with not following the law or ordinance. where I live Firebaugh, Ca the Police turn their face the other way even if they know there is a violation, they claim they the P.D. is waiting for some one to make a complaint, even if the violation is obvious. like a car parked in the same place for 5 Mos. on the street, dog of friends walking all over the place, garbage cans stay on curb 3-4 days. someone watering every day. yet everyone else has to #1. remove gabage cans from curb right away on same day.#2. water days odd & even no.of street address#3. dogs must be on leash yet some ones dog is all over town.#4. no car can be on street for days without being moved-or you will get taged. If you make a report first thing they want is your name and address what for so they can let that person know you made the complaint. yes and chances are that person will come after me.

If you do not trust your local government, perhaps you should move to another community. My theory is that a community needs to be of a particular size to have within its population enough people with competence and integrity such that the city council, volunteer fire dept, police, school system, etc. etc. will be populated by good people, and any time any one leaves, there will be multiple quality candidates for replacement.

If you fear retribution, don't want to move, but want to get the problems fixed, consider reporting local officials to state or feredral. Now be sure to have good evidence of wrong doing, something that will stand up in a court of law, so you have to give some thought how to gether that evidence.

If you trust the local system to fix problems, then see if there is a dept of police that handles oversight of the police, similarly with fire dept, or other area you think is mishandled.

I have on occasion reported what I thought was a serious crime, and have had the person I accused come after me.

Take some pictures and makes notes as to time and date of the violations. Take them to local newspapers, tv or radio stations.

It helps if the news media is generally opposed to the local power structure.
