Was there a letdown in either series?
What went wrong in both series in Anaheim and Seattle? Was it the pitching or the offense?
Did they take their opponents too lighlly?
What effect (negative or positive) will getting swept have on both the Red Sox and Angels?
Can either redeem themselves this weekend?

In a 162-game schedule, even the best teams are likely to suffer a sweep at some point during the season.

The Angels were swept today because they couldn't score today despite 10 hits, and because they couldn't do anything with runners in scoring position. On Monday they lost in a well-pitched game by John Thomson, and the Royals just had hot bats on Tuesday.

The Sox picked a tough time to play the M's, when they're rounding into form. As with any extra-inning game, the Sox had a chance but the M's got a timely hit to take the finale tonight. The Mariners also took advantage of facing Gabbard and Tavarez, not exactly the heart of the Sox rotation, earlier in the series.

I wouldn't read much into either sweep, and I'd expect that neither team will go into a very deep slide.

First, even great teams get swept. Second, look at the history between Red Sox-Mariners - Red Sox have not done well against the Mariner's since their World Series. Third, Kansas City won the series in Kansas earlier this year. Fourth, I wouldn't consider the Mariners to be a bad team. Fifth, even loosing teams have winning streaks. Sixth, even winning teams have loosing streaks.

How can any one doubt the ability of the red sox to bounce back after losing a series... there among the best at doing so, so aere the angels by the way. The yankees are the ones to struggle after giving up a sweep. By the way I AM a yankee fan so this is not a bias opinion
