It shouldn't matter. After all, its likely that neither parties candidate will be a supporter of the war.

Now, there is the possibility that the democratic candidate will be one who VOTED for the war. And maybe the Republican too (or not!)

But both will be saying that they will end the conflict ASAP.

So on the issue of the war, will party affiliation matter?

Should it?

For 2008, your guess is as good as mine.
Right now, yes, it matters, and if an election will be called next month, heck yes, it matters.

Of course it will. Look at the impact of the Vietnam War on elections. Many candidates have been thrown by the wayside simply by effectively labeling them as trigger happy with bombs.

For some reason, this country had become enamored with warmongering. That would be because our 'dark masters' are warmongers and warlords and lords of war.

Our actions in Iraq have jeopardized the safety of America. There will likely be significant blowback in my estimation.

regrettably, i think of there are nonetheless quite a number of too many racists and sexists in this united states of america for Obama or Clinton to tug it off - that's finally why the Democrats won't nominate the two one among them. I see them rallying at the back of a greater mainstream candidate like John Edwards, who polls nicely against each and each of the wonderful Republican applicants. McCain and Giuliani are polling surprisingly a lot proper now - yet I assume them to say no extra as they're the two heavily linked with the Iraq conflict (McCain as a political supporter, Giuliani as head of a civilian contractor who made quite a number of money working Iraqi risk-free practices operations).

it's almost the only thing that will. the people still see the war as a republican thing. everyone knew that the war was a means to control he oil market. reps wanted the oil company contributions. dems were too cowardly to speak up for fear of being called soft on defense. some people believe that the dems were actually fooled be the rep "bad intelligence" bull ****.
Do you want a stupid or cowardly pres - dem
or
Do you want a purely evil pres - rep

either way i think it matters

Republicans will win, as Democrats please the poll takers who say they want out of war, by crying it was wrong, and a waste, Americans don't want war, but they don't want a President who would not go to war either. When our enemies see weakness in the white house that's when will be hit the hit hardness.

It will matter. I'd hate to be a Republican candidate right now.

If the war is still going on, it will be an issue. If it is over this fall I suspect other things will become more important next fall.
